Signs your laptop battery needs replacing
A battery is a consumable. Most laptops need one after two to four years of daily use.
Backup dropped to under an hour
A healthy battery holds most of its rated capacity. When runtime collapses, the cells have worn out and no software fix will bring them back.
Plugged in, not charging
Sometimes the battery, sometimes the charger, sometimes the charging circuit on the board. We test all three so you do not buy a battery you did not need.
Laptop shuts down suddenly
A worn cell cannot hold voltage under load, so the machine dies without warning even though Windows says 40 per cent.
Swollen or bulging battery
A safety issue. It lifts the trackpad, bends the base and can eventually rupture. Stop using the laptop and bring it in.
Service Recommended or Replace Now warning
macOS and Windows both report battery health. If your MacBook shows Service Recommended, the cell is at end of life.
Battery not detected
Often a connector or controller fault rather than a dead cell. Worth checking before replacing.
Charger getting very hot
A failing battery makes the charger work harder. Replacing the battery usually solves the heat too.
Laptop only works on mains
The clearest sign. The battery has failed completely and the laptop has become a desktop.

Why replace your battery at Apex52
- We measure the old battery before selling you a new one, so you do not replace a healthy cell.
- Charger and charging-circuit faults are ruled out in the same visit.
- Swollen batteries are removed safely and disposed of properly, not refitted or ignored.
- New batteries are calibrated, so the percentage you see is the percentage you have.
- Up to 90 days written warranty, and GST invoicing for company laptops.
How to make your new laptop battery last longer
Keep charge between roughly 20 and 80 per cent for daily use rather than sitting at 100 per cent on mains all day. Most Dell, HP, Lenovo and Asus laptops have a battery conservation or charge-threshold setting in their support software, and we will switch it on for you before you collect the machine.
Heat is the other enemy. A laptop used on a bed or sofa runs hot and ages the cell faster, so a hard surface and a clean fan make a measurable difference. If your laptop already runs hot, ask us about a teardown clean and thermal paste change while the battery is being fitted.
Battery replacement questions
How much does a laptop battery replacement cost in Mumbai?
Common Windows laptop batteries cost ₹2,200 to ₹4,500 fitted, business ultrabooks ₹3,500 to ₹6,500, and MacBook batteries ₹4,500 to ₹9,500. Apex52 checks battery health free of charge first and quotes in writing.
How long does a laptop battery last?
Typically two to four years, or 300 to 1,000 charge cycles depending on the model. Once measured capacity falls below about 70 per cent of the design capacity, replacement is worthwhile.
Can you replace a MacBook battery the same day?
Yes for most MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models we hold stock for. Send us your model on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you travel.
My battery is swollen. Is it dangerous?
Yes, a swollen battery should be treated as a safety risk. Stop charging the laptop, avoid pressing on the base or trackpad, and bring it in for safe removal and disposal.
My laptop says plugged in, not charging. Is the battery dead?
Not always. It can equally be the charger, the DC jack or the charging circuit on the motherboard. We test all four so you only pay for the part that has actually failed.
Do you fit original batteries?
We offer original and high-grade compatible cells and explain the price, capacity and warranty difference before fitting. You choose.
Is there a warranty on the new battery?
Yes, up to 90 days on the battery and the fitting, written on your job sheet.
