Tally Software Services, usually shortened to TSS, is the annual subscription that sits on top of your TallyPrime licence. Your licence itself does not expire, but TSS does, and it is TSS that delivers product updates, statutory and GST changes, remote access, online data synchronisation and Tally support.
In practice that means an expired TSS is not a problem until the day the GST rules change, a new return format arrives, or you need to work on your company data from home. Then it becomes urgent. Renewing on time is far simpler and cheaper than sorting it out under pressure at the end of a filing period.
